And the Honoree Tie for this year ...

Goes to Cindy Creager

Honoree Tie

At each annual auction, an EUUC member is awarded the Honoree Tie in recognition of their outstanding volunteer service.   This year, the Auction Committee plans to bid for the right to name Cindy Creager the Honoree Tie recipient.

If you would like to make a contribution to win the tie for Cindy, please email

Here’s a summary of Cindy’s history at EUUC:

Cindy and her family began attending EUUC about 16 years ago.  When her son Kyle and other EUUC youth asked about becoming conscientious objectors, the Peace & Justice committee caught her attention.  The committee’s commitment to peace and their willingness to provide conscientious objector training, was a major motivator in the Creager’s decision, in 2005, to become members.

After Kyle’s graduation, Cindy became involved in the Youth Group as an assistant to her younger son Ryan.  During this time, Cindy served on the Youth Education Support committee, then on the DRE Search Committee.  In the words of one youth group advisor, “She was effective and powerful in all the roles she assumed, making the whole Youth Group experience more effective for the youth as well as the various adults and parents involved.”

Long an advocate for children with disabilities in the Northshore School District, Cindy found inspiration in the dedication to justice and equity she observed in the members of the Peace & Justice committee.  She joined the committee and within a few years became chair.  Cindy has continued as chair or co-chair ever since.  In this role, she has taken on many of the committee’s organizational tasks, helped facilitate the ideas and plans of other committee members, and worked tirelessly to support the committee’s activities.

One committee member describes her as “the glue” that holds the committee together. Her leadership is a key factor in the success of this vibrant, growing committee that has greatly expanded EUUC’s involvement in social justice advocacy and witness activities.

Cindy also served on the task force that explored and created a policy for taking congregational stands.  Along with Pam Iverson, she proposed EUUC's congregational stand for LGBTQ Justice and Equity.  Believing that congregational stands should come from the congregation rather the social justice committees, she worked to set up opportunities for other EUUCers to develop the next two stand proposals.

In addition, Cindy worked with the other social justice chairs on a multi-year project to reduce our carbon footprint and develop awareness of climate justice issues.  These coordinated activities served as an important precursor to the establishment for our current Social Justice Council.

Cindy currently serves as the Peace & Justice committee’s representative to the Social Justice Council, where she is a strong voice for keeping our eyes on the prize – a better world for all.
