Poor Peoples Campaign A National Call for Moral Revival-ongoing

The  40 days of march and civil disobedience on Mondays in state capitols and elsewhere was the beginning to organizing and empowering each state to make a difference in the moral practice of our country.   EUUC has been at each act of civil disobedience and each march and was represented by members of our congregation participating in the non violent Civil Disobedience  act and being arrested, and by members standing up to give moral witness, be peace keepers and help with safety and health.  Court dates are yet to come for many who were arrested. Racial Justice Workgroup members were active in this participation and CD.  The RJ Workgroup also donated support funds from the budget for a Washington Poor Peoples Campaign banner and for tents and other supplies to make the point about the intersectionality of racial justice with poverty, homelessness, immigrant justice, justice for those who are differently abled, climate justice

On June 23rd the Poor Peoples Campaign marched and participated in acts of civil disobedience again. This time the Saturday march and act fo civil disobedience was in Seattle and you would have seen it on TV (4,5,7,13) stations that evening.  Once again, members from EUUC were a part of those arrested for civil disobedience and this time some were kept in jail overnight.    Members were also there standing up to give moral witness, be peace keepers and help with safety and health.  The message of civil disobedience and standing up to give moral witness  to call attention to racial injustice, the injustice of how people who are poor, who are differently abled, immigrants and others who are  disenfranchised  are treated in our system as well as well as climate justice was stated by news reporters as they reported why this was happening.  Thus we at EUUC continue to be a very important part of the Campaign. The next actions will be about getting out the vote.  More to come.
